Hello, I'm Daneeca Vasquez!
Welcome to D.C Barrone Photography. My name is Daneeca Vazquez, and it's a pleasure to meet you. I have been contemplating how I might introduce myself so that you can better understand who I am and my background in photography. However, honestly, I'm afraid of public speaking and writing about myself for any public presentation. HAHA, no joke!!! So, let me begin by sharing a favorite quote of mine by Elliot Erwitt,
'The whole point of taking pictures is so that you don’t have to explain things in words.'
I thought I would end there, but I soon realized you still do not know who I am or anything about me.
So here goes, nothing!
I'm Daneeca, owner and operator of D.C Barrone Photography. I specialize in Outdoor Photography for Family Portraits, Wedding Photography, and Milestone Photography (including Engagements, Anniversaries, Graduations, Birthdays, and Senior Pictures).
During my childhood, I grew up in beautiful Taos, NM, always loving the outdoors. I have a profound love for nature and the beauty it has to offer. I enjoy spending my free time camping, fishing, hiking, swimming, and just plain adventuring. I’m quirky, laugh at my own jokes, and love to laugh until I cry. I'm a mom and aunt, and I must say that I'm blessed beyond measure to be both. When I asked a friend to describe me, she mentioned words such as humble, compassionate, faithful, and dependable.
Now that you know a little about who I am, it’s time to share the story of my journey to becoming a photographer.

My interest in photography began when cameras were still using film! Early in my photography career, I wasted so much film trying to get the best shots, and initially, it wasn't of people. You see, I have a confession to make. I didn't always enjoy photographing people. When I first started, I had a passion for photographing insects, flowers, the dew drops on the leaves in the morning, the changing leaves, the subtle rocks in the shapes of hearts, tree bark with its unique textures, and the sun peeking through the dandelions that were ready to make wishes on. I fancied in the little beauties often overlooked if you were in a hurry and not looking. I'm always in awe at the little beauties I find on my adventures.
I didn't begin photographing people until I started helping my mom document our family vacations. It was so much fun getting those candid shots of everyone being with their loved ones as they told stories of the past and about plans for the future, all while we all enjoyed the peace and beauty of nature. I began photographing more people when friends asked me to take pictures of their growing families. These new opportunities to learn and expand my photography abilities brought lots of excitement but caused some fear because it was new, and the unknown can be scary.
I continued taking pictures of nature and people until one day, I was talking to my brother.
I told him, 'One day, people will hang my photographs on the walls inside their homes.' He replied, 'You can just talk about it. Or, you can make it happen.'
That day is when I decided I was going for it. However, I was a poor college student.
Thankfully, my parents were able to help me purchase my first prints to get started. My family believed in my dreams as much as I did and helped me to make my dreams a reality. I am forever grateful for their support and continuing words of encouragement.
Today, I intertwine my passion for nature and portrait photography to shoot photographs that tell a visual story that is vivid and colorful. One that you need no words to explain. One that you can feel. I am proud to look back at where I started and compare it to where I am presently.
I want to thank the many photographers who took the time to share their priceless knowledge about our profession to help me get to where I am today. Also, I would like to extend my extreme gratitude to all the friends, family, and new acquaintances who trusted me to capture their special moments.
I still have lots of learning to accomplish, but I look forward to seeing where my perseverance and hard work will take me.
